There are benefits of cheese on teeth that contains some calcium and phosphorus which enters into the plaque layer found on the teeth remineralizing the enamel and prevents tooth decay. Cheese also stimulates the flow of saliva and saliva itself protects the teeth from damage by its buffer action. Saliva is alkaline in nature and neutralizes the acid in the plaque. It has a lubricating property and increases the sugar clearance rate also. Saliva also have some proteins and minerals which itself protects the teeth. So by stimulating saliva, cheese enable a protective mechanism for teeth. Cheese sticks to the teeth to prevent it from acid.
Cheese has an Anti-Cavity Effect
There had been a research in which three groups were made and were asked to consume different dairy products. One group was given cheddar cheese. Another was given milk. The third group was asked to eat sugar-free yogurt. Normally plaque pH which is lower than 5.5 causes tooth erosion and the enamel layer of the tooth wears away. But during this research it was found that none of the dairy products had a plaque pH lower than 5.5. It was also found that milk and yogurt groups had no pH which means they were neutral meanwhile the groups who were given cheddar cheese had an amazing effect. As they had a very rapid increase in pH. This proved that cheese has an anti-cavity effect on the teeth. So, we must eat cheese and avail benefits of cheese on teeth.
